Dear Friends and Colleagues,
In the name of Dr. Richard Lieber, Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of Research, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, the Feinberg School of Medicine and the McCormick School of Engineering, Northwestern University, and General Chair of RehabWeek 2025, it is our privilege and honor to invite you to RehabWeek 2025, from May 12th -16th, 2025 to Chicago, United States of America.
Rehabilitation more than ever is innovating with new insights and technologies, and needs the expertise of physicians, scientists, researchers, engineers, technologists, clinicians, industry representatives, and policy makers working together with patients to apply novel research. Translational approaches are critical to develop new treatments to help patients gain more function and enjoy greater ability and independence. The aging population particularly increases rehabilitation needs, and cross-disciplinary collaboration ensures that promising research ideas will efficiently be translated into the clinic in order to enhance the assessment and delivery of interventions to patients, ultimately improving their rehabilitation outcomes and fostering functional independence in their everyday life.
USA legislation has just passed in December 2022 a bill to recognize rehabilitation research facilities across the country for the unique role they play in the healthcare system by driving innovative research for the entire field, serving the most medically complex patients nationally, and educate a high number of medical residents. Rehabilitation progress is at the forefront in the USA, pushing for better recoveries for more patients, unique specialty programs, revolutionizing research and recovery with novel and data-driven insights, and disseminating knowledge and scientific discovery.
Chicago, home of rehabilitation leaders, research pioneers, and major academic medical research centers, is then the perfect place to foster multi-disciplinary discussions, workshops, and collaborations through RehabWeek. Chicago has vast intellectual capital, with major universities, top hospitals, tech incubators, and Fortune 500 companies, as well as diverse neighborhoods for a celebration of this multi-cultural city. Chicago is home to the academic medical centers of UIC, Loyola, Northwestern, Rush, and the University of Chicago, enabling many opportunities for training and research collaborations.
We hope that you will choose our proposal for RehabWeek 2025 in Chicago and look forward to welcoming you to our dynamic city.
Kind regards,
The Chicago RehabWeek 2025 Team
